Ashburton Contracting Limited (ACL) has established an enviable reputation as a leading civil contracting business working across the Ashburton District and surrounding areas. With a current workforce of over 130, ACL performs strongly in a competitive market through delivering high level performance and quality outcomes.
ACL is a civil contractor specialising in horizontal construction and drainage, quarrying and aggregate production, ready mix concrete, rural contracting, surfacing, and utility management. It also operates a modern truck and heavy vehicle fleet and Readymix Association certified concrete plant. ACL undertakes all work in an environment where health, safety and quality are paramount.
ACL is a Council-owned trading organisation that is governed by a Board consisting of a Chairperson and three Directors. The Chief Executive Officer reports to the Board. The business operates independently of the Council under a Statement of Intent. As with any other commercial business, ACL is required to achieve identified profit targets for its shareholder.
The ACL Board has a focus on sustainable growth, innovation, strategy and maintaining high levels of health, safety and quality. The incoming director will have experience in governance and ideally an understanding of the contracting sector. Sound financial management skills with the ability to identify and critique potential growth opportunities is expected. The vision and drive to provide governance to support ACL’s ongoing development is essential. The Board meets monthly and reports to Council every three months.
