Marlborough Tour Company (MTC) is a family owned business that has recently expanded, acquiring a number of new businesses including the high profile Furneaux Lodge and Punga Cove Resort, both located on the world-renowned Queen Charlotte Track. The expansion strategy incorporates a complementary range of visitor offerings including idyllic accommodation, luxury cruising in the scenic beauty of the Queen Charlotte Sound, access to the Queen Charlotte Track and a selection of wine, scenic and seafood tours by land and on water.  MTC is now positioned to bring more of Marlborough to the international and domestic tourism markets all year round.  MTC was presented with Qualmark’s Gold Sustainable Tourism Business Award in 2019 for its tours and cruises, putting it amongst the top tourism experiences in New Zealand.


We are seeking applications from those passionate about the tourism potential of the region, for two key roles.


General Manager Sales & Marketing


Reporting to the CEO and as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the GM Sales & Marketing will develop and implement data driven strategies to achieve ongoing growth and expansion of the tourism offering. Key responsibilities include providing leadership to the sales and marketing teams, building and leveraging relationships with internal and external stakeholders, leading projects, developing business cases, promoting the company and brand, and overseeing advertising and promotional activities. Tourism industry marketing experience including market networks, branding, product analysis and strategic positioning, highly developed relationship building and people leadership skills will be key to success in the role.


Sales Manager


Reporting to the GM Sales & Marketing, the Sales Manager will provide input to sales strategy and projects, the development of plans and budgets and implementation of plans to achieve sales targets.  They will lead, develop and support the sales team through effective planning, performance management and teamwork. Leveraging existing and developing new business relationships with key customers, and to enhance the sales function and achieve the growth objectives for the business are key to success in this role. Proven success in modern sales leadership in a dynamic service industry is essential for the role.
