The Professor of AVT is responsible for providing leadership that delivers high-quality growth in UC’s research outputs, enhances people and organisational capability, and attracts international postgraduate students. The timing of this appointment offers a real opportunity to transform the capability and offering of the scholarly team in line with global 21st century research and teaching. The university-wide regeneration of facilities and culture is an enabler for inter-disciplinary work on research and programme development that is gaining world leading recognition. The appointee will be expected to translate research to industry and provide strong leadership of entrepreneurial activity in their field.
The ability to provide outstanding teaching, research and entrepreneurial expertise to both academic and real-world programmes is critical, as is the ability to collaborate and partner with other departments, industry and non-academic stakeholders.
The successful appointee will display the following attributes:
- A PhD in computer vision or machine learning disciplines.
- Experience in research and development of integrated AVT for vehicles and/or robots and/or drones using robot vision and machine learning.
- A reputation for research excellence and stimulating academic leadership.
- Record of entrepreneurial activity, excellent strategic relationship management and collaboration skills.
- Experience in connecting with industry and developing aligned research programmes.
- Demonstrated ability to shape an innovative and collaborative culture.
- Strong communication and capability building skills.
- A reputation for providing high-quality teaching and postgraduate supervision.
